Saint Rose Catholic School offers a wide variety of youth athletic opportunities in Paso Robles designed to support students’ growth socially, physically, spiritually, and emotionally while fostering leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Rooted in our Catholic faith, the mission of Saint Rose Catholic School athletics is to provide a Christ-centered environment where students develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. Through competition and teamwork, students learn the value of discipline, perseverance, respect, accountability, and striving to reach their God-given potential. Above all, our athletic program encourages students to give thanks to God for the opportunity to be part of something greater than themselves while embracing the values of love, kindness, friendship, and community.
Elementary & Middle School Sports
Saint Rose Catholic School is a member of the twelve-team Coast Valley Prep League, with schools located throughout San Luis Obispo County. Students may begin participating in interscholastic athletics as early as Third Grade through our co-ed Cross Country program.
Fourth and Fifth Grade students may also participate in co-ed Soccer and Basketball. In middle school, athletic opportunities expand to include co-ed Flag Football, Boys and Girls Basketball, Boys and Girls Volleyball, and additional opportunities in Cross Country and Soccer.
A No-Cut, Safety-First Athletic Program
Our athletic program is built on a no-cut and safety-first philosophy. Every student who wishes to participate has the opportunity to be part of a team, with playing time determined by factors such as attendance, effort, sportsmanship, skill development, and a willingness to learn and contribute positively.
All Saint Rose coaches are CPR and First Aid certified and are trained in the school’s cardiac arrest, concussion, and heat illness protocols. Student safety remains our highest priority, with additional precautions and activity modifications implemented during periods of poor air quality, excessive heat, or other environmental concerns.
Athletics That Support Academics
Practices and games are typically held after school and generally conclude by 5:30 p.m. Middle school athletics begin after 3:30 p.m. to allow students the opportunity to attend after-school tutoring or study hall before participating in sports.
At Saint Rose Catholic School, we believe extracurricular activities should complement and strengthen a student’s academic experience, reinforcing the importance of responsibility, time management, and balance.
Team Success, Character & Sportsmanship
While we proudly embrace the philosophy that winning is not everything, our student-athletes have enjoyed tremendous success in competition. Saint Rose teams have earned numerous league championships and first-place finishes in sports including middle school Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, and Girls Volleyball, as well as elementary and middle school Cross Country and elementary co-ed Basketball.
More important than trophies, however, is the character and sportsmanship our students demonstrate both on and off the field.
Come Experience Saint Rose Athletics
We invite you to come watch a game, match, or meet and experience the Saint Rose difference firsthand. The respect, teamwork, and joy our student-athletes display in competition are a reflection of the values they learn in the classroom, on the field, and through their Catholic faith.
