Unlike many schools in the Paso Robles area, Saint Rose Catholic School offers a true private Catholic middle school experience, serving students in Sixth through Eighth Grade within a departmentalized, subject-specific schedule.
Middle School Academics
Students attend eight periods each day and are taught by credentialed teachers who specialize primarily in their academic disciplines. Required courses include English/Language Arts, Literature, Math including accelerated Algebra I, Science, Social Studies, Physical Education, Religion, and a daily elective period. Elective offerings may include School Choir, Leadership, Spirit and Service, STEM, Agriculture/Gardening, Spanish, and Art.
High School Preparation
Our middle school curriculum combines faith formation with the academic rigor necessary to prepare students for high school and beyond. With a maximum class size of 28 students, teachers are able to provide individualized support while challenging students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and independent learners.
Because many Saint Rose graduates continue their education at Mission College Prep, our program is intentionally designed to build the academic habits, study skills, and personal responsibility necessary for success in a college-preparatory environment.
Proven Graduate Outcomes
The results speak for themselves. Data provided by Mission College Prep since 2021 shows that Saint Rose Catholic School graduates have achieved a 100% graduation rate, the highest average GPA of any feeder grammar school in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties at 3.57, and a 100% matriculation rate to two-year and four-year colleges.
These outcomes reflect the strong academic foundation and character formation students receive during their years at Saint Rose.
Overnight Trips & Student Experiences
Learning extends beyond the classroom. To support students’ academic, social, and emotional growth, middle school students participate in four memorable overnight educational trips: the three-day, two-night NatureBridge Golden Gate program in Sixth Grade; the five-day, four-night NatureBridge Yosemite experience in Seventh Grade; a two-day, one-night visit to the Reagan Presidential Library and Getty Museum in Eighth Grade; and a four-day, three-night pre-graduation trip to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Students also enjoy school dances and may participate in after-school activities such as Art Club and Drama Club.
Athletics & Extracurricular Activities
Athletics are an important part of the middle school experience. Saint Rose Catholic School is a member of the twelve-team Coast Valley Prep League, offering opportunities for students to compete and build teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership skills.
Fall sports include co-ed Flag Football and Cross Country, along with Girls Volleyball. Winter features Boys and Girls Basketball, while the spring season offers co-ed Soccer and Boys Volleyball.
Faith, Leadership & Service
As a Catholic school, we are committed to educating the whole child — mind, body, and spirit. Beyond academics, our middle school program emphasizes the development of character, morals, ethics, and leadership.
Students complete a minimum of 20 hours of community service each year, with many far exceeding that expectation. Leadership and public speaking skills are intentionally developed through electives and classroom activities, while service opportunities such as our Veterans Day Breakfast, beach cleanups, parish ministry, and community outreach projects allow students to put their faith into action.
By the time they graduate, Saint Rose students are not only familiar with our faith-based Student Learning Expectations, they are living them through their actions and service to others.
