Our History

Saint Rose Catholic School opened its doors on September 7, 1958, under the direction of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Wichita, Kansas, with Sr. Stanislaus serving as principal. In the beginning, the school offered first through fifth grade with combined classes and an enrollment of 139 students.

Over the next three years, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades were added. Kindergarten and preschool were both established in 1983. Since then, Saint Rose Catholic School has grown from a small, enthusiastic group of families into a thriving Preschool through 8th Grade Catholic school in Paso Robles. Today, many current students are second-generation Saint Rose students, continuing a tradition of faith, learning, and community.

The Saint Rose campus includes classrooms, playgrounds, a sports field, track, exercise center, and additional spaces that support academics, arts, music, athletics, and student life. The Parish Center was built in 1981 and continues to provide a gathering place for assemblies, plays, prayer services, sporting events, and community activities. It also houses the school library. A new classroom, staff lounge, and staff workroom were added in the fall of 1987, followed by two modular classrooms between 1991 and 1993.

Saint Rose Catholic School has a long history of providing an academically rich, faith-filled education. Students have participated in award-winning band programs, locally recognized singing and fine arts opportunities, athletics, service, and enrichment activities. Many Saint Rose graduates go on to honors or college preparatory courses at Mission College Prep, Paso Robles High School, Templeton High School, Atascadero High School, and other private high schools throughout California. Many later attend colleges and universities throughout the United States.

For more than six decades, Saint Rose Catholic School has been blessed to contribute to the intellectual, spiritual, and personal growth of students and families throughout Paso Robles and Northern San Luis Obispo County.
